HOW IT ALL GOT STARTED Think and Grow Rich had its beginning in 1908 when Napoleon Hill met Andrew Carnegie, one of the richest and most successful men who ever lived. Carnegie proposed to introduce Hill to America’s leaders in business, government, science, and the arts, if Hill would agree to find out the secrets of their success and use those secrets to write a philosophy of personal achievement that would be made available to the average person. Napoleon Hill accepted the offer, and over the next twenty years he devoted himself to researching why certain people succeed, including in-depth interviews with one hundred of the most creative and successful self-made multimillionaires in America, as well as details provided by 16,000 individuals who completed a psychological profile questionnaire administered by Hill.
