About the editors. Ethan B. Russo, MD, is Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Montana and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington. He is board certified in neurology with a special qualification in child neurology. He frequently lectures to undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of pharmacy, psychology, sports medicine, interpersonal communications, and physical therapy, among others. He has had a lifetime interest in medicinal plants. Dr. Russo has written numerous peer-reviewed articles on ethnobotany, herbal medicine, and cannabis, and has lectured internationally on these topics. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on ethnobotany, herbal medicine, and cannabis, and he has lectured nationally on those subjects. He is the author/editor of the Handbook of Psychotropic Herbs; Cannabis and Cannabinoids: Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Therapeutic Potential; Cannabis Therapeutics in HIV/AIDS; Women and Cannabis: Medicine, Science, and Sociology; and a novel, The Last Sorcerer: Echoes of the Rainforest (Haworth). For four years Dr. Russo served as editor of the Journal of Cannabis Therapeutics. Franjo Grotenhermen, MD, has worked in the fields of internal medicine, surgery, and integrative medicine. Since 1994 he has been researching medical uses of hemp at the Nova Institut. He is also a member of the working group on quality of life for cancer patients at the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Cologne. Dr. Grotenhermen is founder and executive director of the Association for Cannabis as Medicine (ACM) in Germany and of the International Association for Cannabis as Medicine (IACM). He is author and co-author of a number of books, book chapters, and articles on the therapeutic uses, pharmacology, and toxicology of cannabis and cannabinoids; most have appeared in German. ...
